If you want a better understanding of this beautiful art form, try these links. If you are curious about the origin of flamenco, I warn you: it is lost in obscurity. Both the Gypsies and the Spaniards claim it as their own and argue over it endlessly. I go with the Gypsies who traveled from India through Egypt (hence the name), and Africa into southern Spain. Combining the music and dance they already knew with the folkloric music and dance of Andalucia, they created a new form, eventually called “flamenco”.
